Lifetime Collective’s Teenage Wasteland Tee (technically, a men’s shirt) going for $9.99 right now at Plndr’s End of Year Sale.
I didn’t buy the above (can’t really justify the addition of yet another crewneck to my closet), but since there’s an extra 30% off special, I snapped up the following items with store referral credits:

Rider Tee for $12.99 (down from $40) | Neck Warmer Dress for $20 (down from $70)
Right now, you can get 30% off and free shipping for any $50+ purchase with the code LASTSALE. Not yet a member? Sign up for the site with my invite link. (New members get $15 toward their next purchase.) You can also use my rep code LN39421 for an additional 1% off. Thanks in advance!
(And if you’re looking for more year-end deals, DailyCandy’s sample sale site, Swirl, is also running a series of sales for up to 80 percent off. Use the code SWIRLST for free shipping off any order.)

I’m on a streak. I’m FINALLY replacing my broken SkullCandy Lowrider Headphones with the Full Metal Jacket Earbuds … again, in pink. Very predictable of me, I know.
I have abnormally small ears that do not hold most earphones in place. The big round white ones that Apple gives each iPhone or iPod buyer don’t work for me at all. Unfortunately, because I put off stuff like buying things I actually need (as opposed to buying things adorned with Hello Kitty), I’ve been nursing a neck cramp from years of phone conversations conducted with my iPhone wedged between a cheek and a shoulder. The Full Metal Jacket earbuds are noise-canceling (perfect for all those transcontinental flights with the German lover), come with a clip-on mic, and PINK. Plus, they were marked down on Plndr to $15 from $70, so really, what’s not to like? (Well, they don’t work with the iPhone 4, but I’m not complaining.)
Before midnight, I still have to find a new video camera, mic, and memory card for work purposes and am feeling overwhelmed by all the options. The last time I had to buy a piece of technology not made by Apple was probably 2007. Looks like I’m taking care of all my electronic needs for the year on a single day! At least that’s a lot of checkboxes off my to-buy list.
The Skullcandy earbuds also come in gold, white, and neon yellow. Want your own? Plndr’s Cyber Monday sale is still going on, and new members get $15 toward future purchases. (Use my invite link and I promise I won’t blow it on Hello Kitty merchandise.) A handy summary of the coupons available:
20% off any $50+ purchase: PLNDRBLNDR
Free gift (beanie, headphones, or hat) with any $60+ purchase: automatically added
10% off any purchase (1% off if used in combination with another code): LN39421 (rep code)

    Mid-afternoon project: winter-proofing my suede/leather footwear.
It’s that time of year again. Will never get used to the Northeast.

After my vomity bad day, I acquired $150 worth of Hello Kitty merchandise at Japan LA on Fuller and Melrose. (They’re the folks that Sanrio chose to curate the 35th anniversary exhibit last year!)
In case you weren’t aware, I have a serious Hello Kitty problem. It’s an extremely divisive issue in my relationship, so the compromise we struck is this: I don’t buy Hello Kitty versions of things we already have (thus, I refrained from getting a soup ladle) and only get things we actually need (like a new umbrella). I’ll have to share the rest of my loot later ;)

I’m kind of freaking out over the Soho Hearts sale going on at Swirl right now. I’ve been sorely lacking in the jewelry department ever since I lost all my gems in Currier storage. (Um, that’s what happens when you take a year off from college, move off campus, and don’t bother to retrieve your shit until you’re 22 and not technically a student anymore.) So, as a small start to rebuilding that collection of baubles, I just got this ring, which is the perfect expression of my girly punk aesthetic:

Other awesome finds, most priced under $30:

Don’t have a Swirl account? Join with my referral code and my wallet will thank you. (I get a $25 store credit for every first purchase.) If you haven’t bought from Swirl before, you should also use the code LUVSWIRL for $20 off your first order.

My favorite Boston-area consignment store, Second Time Around, is having their “Midnight Madness” sale today and tomorrow. All their summer merchandise, which is already priced at a fraction of retail cost, will be marked down a further 70 percent. I LOVE this sale and have always found such great stuff from it. I live within a five block radius of three Second Time Around locations, and as a STA devotee, I’ve also checked out their stores in DC and New York. (They’ve expanded to a ton of East Coast cities over the past couple years!) Click on the promo poster above for a list of participating store locations and hours.

Eva Franco “Fifi” Jack & Jill Stripe Skirt
Dear Rue La La, this skirt is gorgeous. It’s also $69. I can’t buy this. Those less broke: join the site with my invite link; contribute to my shopping bank! My wallet will thank you.

Had to share these recent acquisitions, which exemplify the preppy/punky look I’ve been going for lately. Both items are from U.K. labels, so alas, I won’t be going back for seconds anytime soon. Probably better for my pocketbook anyway.

First, the preppy: I found these military button shorts by Jane Norman at a store in Germany that carries British brands. They fit like a charm and are tight in all the right places without revealing booty. They’re a bit expensive for shorts, but the H&M version (which I also have) is the same price and these are much better quality.

Second, the punk: Superdry’s “Rocker Pirates” t-shirt has displaced Hellz Bellz as my favorite casual top of the moment. The cracked screenprint gives it a vintagey look and the cut is super flattering. I’ve encountered Superdry at boutiques before but hadn’t gone to one of the stores until I was in Cambridge/London last month. I always thought they were Japanese, but they’re actually a British company inspired by Asian design. The brand strikes me as kind of Abercrombie-esque but without the beachy feel. Brits, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

Obviously, these two items combine well, but the rest of my closet is still rather mismatched. Do you guys have to negotiate between competing facets of your personal style?
