Anonymous asked: How is your hair cut/styled? I recently grew my hair out, but now it's kinda shapeless and blah. Your hair is very cute!

Thanks! But to be honest, I don’t style my hair at all and only recently got a hairbrush. When I left Harvard after my junior year (approximately two years ago), I left my last hairbrush in storage and never bothered to buy a new one until Patrick got me one last month. So … basically, I’ve been brushing my hair with my fingers for the past 25 months or so. Are you sure you still want to take hair advice from me?

I’m just going to assume yes and revel in the awesomeness of my luscious locks.

Since I already have super straight hair and a whole lot of it, I am spared hours of agony in front of the mirror. It’s no small blessing to have the type of hair that shows up in commercials (shiny, long, voluminous, and straight), but that said, I totally do not advocate straightening your hair even if it doesn’t look like the hair featured on television. I think natural is always better, not to mention healthier! Short hair can also be a lot cuter, but sadly, I don’t have the bone structure to pull it off.

Specifics on my personal hair quirks: I started going to Janida at Avanti in Boston’s Back Bay for cuts over two years ago when I met Patrick. Yes, the Roomie introduced me to his stylist. Anyway, since then, she’s kept him looking charmingly boyish, and I won’t let anyone else touch my (or his) hair. I really, really don’t like that at all. I’m always terrified that too much will get cut off, since my mother once traumatized me at age 5 by chopping off ALL MY HAIR from the ears down. My id has never been the same again. (She also once did this secretly to my sister by sneaking up to her from behind, gently stroking her locks, and then SNIP!) Generally, my cuts today consist of a simple trim around the back and a touch up on the layers around my face. I had bangs briefly last spring (which were cute when Janida did them but looked too young on me) and then grew them out, tried to get layers, and failed, ending up with bangs again (maybe my instructions were lost in translation to the German stylist). Now I’m in the process of growing my hair out until it reaches my upper ass cheek area. I estimate this will occur sometime around November.

And I think that’s pretty much more than what anyone ever wanted to know about my hair regimen.
