Learning Curve
Basically, you just do it. Even if it sucks and you hate it. I’ve never ever exercised with any regularity until literally about two months ago. And even now, after many many runs, I’m still not sure someone can ever learn to LIKE running. I merely went from despising it to tolerating it. In fact, my primary reason for signing up for a marathon? So I’m forced to run at least four times a week for the next four months, lest I make a fool of myself at the race.
But even though I don’t necessarily enjoy working out, I do enjoy being in shape for the first time EVER and having more energy on a daily basis. That’s the kind of stuff you CAN come to love. Before, I ran because I wanted to lose the Freshman 15 (in my case, more like the Freshman 20) but now I’m motivated by a lot more than just vanity.
I don’t know if this fits tumblr reblog etiquette but HOW DID YOU DO THIS?!? I need to start running and am so out of shape and am scared to start.
And good luck with the marathon! You are much more ambitious than I.
I just ran 6.2 miles without stopping and I did not get winded. I could NOT have done this two months ago. Maybe this marathon won’t kill me after all!
(Granted, this is less than 1/4th of the marathon distance.)
