How To Be A More Efficient Freelance Writer
Things I’m going to start doing:
- Bring a super small notepad with me at all times (I always *try* and fail to do this because I choose something too big for my purse). Ditch the tape recorder (works for some people, not for me).
- Email myself ideas throughout the day and label them in my Gmail as “IDEAS” or something obvious that I’ll actually look through.
- Do more reading. Read while on shuttles, buses, etc. Read before bed. Read during cardio.
- Make my friends an active part of my writing process. I don’t get their feedback nearly enough. They also help a lot with brainstorming.
- Actually try to learn something new about writing. Be open to instruction. Read the book April let me borrow.
- Reach out to more experienced writers.
- Post SexandtheIvy-esque entries to my protected LiveJournal instead of in public.
- Print out essays, excerpts, quotes, etc. that I am particularly fond of. Keep an “inspiration” book.
Anyone else have ideas?
