Weakling.
Patrick just bench pressed me by pushing me up by my crotch and chest. I feel like an appropriate response would be for me to bench press Hamlet. But I can’t.

Tonight: Kate Millet Reading in Harvard Square
Feminist scholar and artist Kate Millet is conducting a reading at Pierre Menard Gallery tonight at 7pm. Millet’s revolutionary work Sexual Politics (1968), which critiqued the subugation of women in Western literature, philosophy, and psychology, made a significant contribution toward feminist scholarship and incited a pissed off Norman Mailer to call her a “literary Molotov”. ...

Class & Inclusivity at WAM!
Renee Martin at GlobalComment questions whether WAM! is truly inclusive, considering the cost of attendance. She says that the registration fee (as well as accommodations, travel, and food) makes it unaffordable for many women: “Some women have been able to achieve free entrance by volunteering. but what does this say about equality? Money is more valued than the equal participation of women...

Follow my Twitter for live quotes and ongoing commentary from the WAM! panels. From the program: There are plenty of good reasons to work in the mainstream media: you can get your ideas out to a wide audience; you can establish a name for yourself; and you might just be able to make a living (or at least finance some of your less well-paid writing). This panel will explore the different reasons...

Antifeminism's Straw Man
antifeminism: “The feminist movement as we have come to know it in recent decades is fundamentally a “con.” It is as filled with falsehood, inaccuracy, and foolishness as astrology or parapsychology. As it is considered treasonous to criticise a sister feminist, no standards of accuracy or honesty are ever enforced. Hyperbole and deceit thus become the formula for success, “peer review” playing...

Sex and the Ivy » Then & Now →
Cross-posted from SexandtheIvy.com: I’m incredibly scared of loss. And I know I shouldn’t feel like I lose something by sleeping with someone, but I do. I decided to stop having sex because I was sick of giving away all these pieces of myself and subsequently worrying about unintentional attachment, ill-advised yearning. It felt like I had no control. I rarely reread entries on this blog, but...

Re: Melissa's Quote
Jessica says: “I’m not sure if I agree with this - if the word feminism is co-opted by movements that are actually anti-feminist (read: International Women’s Forum), then I think it’s the responsibility of the fems to call that shit out. Personally, I’m really uncomfortable with “Choose Your Own Adventure” style feminism, where anything and everything...

Is sexual expression and feminism incompatible?
I’ve had comments up on my blog for less than a month, and for the most part, I haven’t had any encounters with Internet fuckwads. Sure, some people disagree with what I have to say, but there are hardly any personal attacks (a huge improvement from my Sex and the Ivy days). A few recent exceptions have popped up on my semi-nude photo post: You are such a disgusting whore. Thanks for...

Titty Tap
I’m dancing with Patrick at the Armin Van Buuren show tonight when the guy next to me starts acting really strange. Every time my hand is in his vicinity, he grabs onto it, even though I move away each time and make it abundantly clear that he is not my dance partner. After ten minutes of hand wrestling, he decides to jiggle my braless left boob with his index finger. I spin around...

Preliminary Reader Poll Results From Urtak
As promised, I’m posting some reader trends from my Urtak, though with barely over 100 responses so far, this is hardly representative of all of you: Half are college students, and 28% (overall) attend Ivy League schools. A slight majority have blogs of your own. Nearly half of you have seen me naked. 95% of you believe I should learn how to swim, but only 75% think I need to learn how to...

Not to dash anyone’s hopes or anything, but Harvard assigned me to Canaday (hated it), then Mather (hated it), and I eventually transferred to Currier (much better). Next year, when I return, I hope to be affiliated with Eliot, though I won’t be living on campus. Four different residences in four years? Whether Harvard allows me to do this or not, I’m obviously less than...

I had lunch in the South End at Flour Bakery yesterday. I’ve heard a lot of hype and this was my first visit, so my expectations were high. A few complaints upfront: There are babies and kids, approximately one per five...

Fuck My (Sex) Life
I’m 90% certain that Patrick pinched a nerve when he squeezed my nipples during sex yesterday. The left half of my left breast is out of commission, due to occasional shooting pains that run from the nipple to the armpit. I have already randomly screamed about five times today. Oh, and also — my left nipple? About twice its normal size. This can’t be benign, right?
